Abstract

Government-funded health projects depend on their big data since it helps to improve decision-making, provide better patient outcomes & distribute resources more wisely. Since these initiatives rely more and more on huge scale sensitive health data, security concerns become rather important. The Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) is a shining example of how government health projects manage big data while juggling security flaws. Maintaining confidence & their guaranteeing adherence to standards like HIPAA depends on their protecting patient information from their cyber threats, illegal access & other data breaches. Emphasizing flaws including data silos, outdated technology & their inadequate encryption standards, this article investigates the unique security challenges associated with big data in CHIP. Moreover, it examines actual world events whereby data security flaws have led to breaches, therefore stressing the possible consequences for patients & medical professionals. Dealing with these issues calls for a multifarious approach including robust encryption, strict access policies, regular security audits & the application of contemporary technology such AI for danger identification. Moreover, developing proactive security planning depends critically on the encouraging cooperation among government agencies, medical professionals & their cybersecurity experts. This case study underlines the need of implementing strong data security policies in CHIP & related health initiatives to protect private patient information and preserve public healthcare system integrity. Using a proactive approach in their cybersecurity, government health initiatives can make use of big data while reducing risks & thereby protecting the privacy of millions of individuals.
